The dA Center for the Arts is pleased to present Textural Play: The Works of Carol Powell. This exhibition explores life’s humorous and tragic circumstances through Powells nostalgic story-book style imagery. Drawing influence from multiple sources including contemporary art, childrens books, and East Indian textiles, Powell combines fabric, paint, marker and vintage collage ephemera to create her mixed media pieces. Powell received both an MA in Printmaking and an MFA in Drawing and Painting from California State University, Fullerton. Her art has been shown and held in various collections including the Santa Barbara Museum, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona and the Santa Monica Museum of Art.
Opening Reception: Saturday, January 14, 2012, 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
