May 2012: Children’s In-studio Art Class Schedule

The dA’s visual and performing arts classes are designed to tap into school age participants’ imaginations while providing a foundation in the arts. Taught by local working artists, dancers, and musicians these project-oriented art classes expand students’ artistic skills though hands on experiences. All classes include materials unless specified by individual instructor.  Registration forms are available at the front desk during gallery hours.  Classes begin May 1, 2012

Exploration through Collage
Students learn to compose images using a variety of materials and objects pasted over a surface, often with unifying lines and color. Participants create and tell stories through the used of combined images.
Instructor: Sue Geeting
Time: Wednesdays 5:30-6:30 pm
Fee: $40.00 for 4-weeks

Hip Hop / Choreography
Students will be introduced to the elements of hip-hop through choreography and freestyle movement.
Instructor: Derrick Wilson
Time: Fridays 6:30-7:30 pm
Fee: $40.00 for 4-weeks

Music & Melodicas
Learn to play the melodica! One part keyboard, one part harmonica – students develop a foundation in music through the use of games and instrumental play.
Instructor: Ryan Seward
Time: Tuesdays 5:30-6:30 pm
Fee: $40.00 for 4-weeks

Prinkmaking / Silkscreen Practices
This class explores various forms of transfer art and aspects of the printing process including silkscreen mono-printing and fabric transfer art techniques.
Instructor: Justin Robinson
Time: Saturdays 1:00-3:00 pm
Fee: $40.00 for 4-weeks
